In the previews for Man Of Steel we see Kevin Costner playing Superman's foster father. He discusses morality with young Superman. Superman needs to decide what kind of man he's going to grow up to be. Is it morally correct to let a school bus full of children die in order to hide his super human abilities? Makes me wonder if the producers of the Superman 2 movie had any kind of morality crisis when they excepted money in exchange for Marlboro cigarette product placement.
Everybody is stoked to see the new Man Of Steel Superman movie. I know I am! There is some controversy over the new suit though. Will the new suit ruin Superman? For me though Superman's reputation was all ready ruined back in 1980. In the previews for Man Of Steel we see Kevin Costner playing Superman's foster father. Yes, Superman was used to market cigarettes to kids. Several times through out the film. Here we see intrepid reporter Lois Lane puffing away on a Marlboro: Comic books help kids understand the difference between right and wrong and what it means to be a hero. Is it wrong to use superheros to market unhealthy products such as cigarettes and junk food? Please leave a comment below letting me know your opinion.

Good blog. I haven't seen the first two Reeve films in years and when I think about details like this, I feel even less inclined to re-watch them. Pierre Spengler and the Salkind's literally sold their kiddie audience to Phillip Morris, absolutely immoral indeed. There's a not so subtle shot of a Marlboro pack in the first film too.
