A Bulldog For Christmas Review

I made the smart decision this year to invest a little money in this movie and I am so glad I did! I've wanted to be a filmmaker my whole life so it was such a great experience to be a part of the filmmaking process of this film. My small contribution got me a digital copy sent to my email and I got to see this movie before most people got to. Henrique Couto is a wonderful filmmaker and I strongly suggest investing in his upcoming film Awkward Thanksgiving!

The movie itself is about an angry young counter culture woman visiting her family for Christmas. She has an awful attitude and is about to ruin Christmas for everyone when she is magically turned into a bulldog and learns the true meaning of Christmas. It is a wonderful movie the whole family can enjoy and is sure to become a Christmas classic! There is such a big demand for Christmas programming I'm sure this movie will be all over TV next Christmas! Then everyone all over the country will see my name in the credits LOL!!!

Mega Scorpions Full Moon Streaming

I have been so happy since ordering Full Moon Streaming to watch on my Roku! I have been watching movies I haven't seen since I was a kid plus movies I missed and didn't get a chance to see when they were first released. Every week Charles Band does a vidcast talking about what is going on at Full Moon. He announced a movie called Mega Scorpions was going to be released on the channel and showed a preview. I thought "Gee, could this be the lost J.R. Bookwalter movie from years ago? The one I wanted to see so bad I tried to get a bootleg copy from one of his friends? The one that was such a bad experience Mr Bookwalter decided to give up filmmaking?". Sure enough it was!

It's the story of a small town where a greedy corporation dumps toxic waste into a landfill causing scorpions to mutate into huge murderous monsters. After a teenage boy is killed by a scorpion a corrupt mayor tries to blame the local halfway house.

The cast is filled with Tempe/Full Moon stars like Trent Haaga, Lilith Stabs, Ariauna Albright and Jeff Dylan Graham. Trent Haaga really shines as a schizophrenic recovering meth addict.

Mega Scorpions is mega stupid but it's also mega entertaining, mega star studded and mega fun! Get Roku and subscribe to Full Moon Streaming today!!

An Anti-Worker's Handbook Review

12/13/2013

An Anti-Worker's Handbook is a half page sized follow up to Clell Miller's 1/8 page Rig-it & Relocate zine reviewed here. This sequel seems a lot more polished with a tighter lay out and much less, if any, profanity. Clell further explores the anti work manifesto, covering the anti-workers spirituality, Individuality, poor citizenship, employment prevention and many other detailed topics.

I find this work very challenging, which is I guess why I like it so much. While reading I am constantly trying to figure out if this is satire or if this is a legit philosophy? The direction our country is going is in it is very likely that the need to work and have a job will be unnecessary. I saw on TV that only 10% of USA's wealth is generated through manufacturing. If our country is not making anything then what are it's people supposed to do for work? I really believe that a large part of the population will be unemployable and left to try and find some kind of busy work or something to feel important. Maybe the Anti Worker's Handbook is an important piece of literature to take us into the post industrial America? It's great stuff so be sure and get a copy!!

Blankets by Craig Thompson Review

12/7/2013

Picture
Blankets is a graphic novel about growing up, relationship and faith. It tells the story of Craig growing up with poor strict Christian parents and having to share a bed with his younger brother. He meets a girl at a Christian camp and has his first romance, leading to him spending two weeks at the girls house.

I really enjoyed this book. I had great drawings and a super personal story, usually you only find stories like this in zines. Make sense that the author lives in Portland which is kinda like the zine Mecca. Teenage romance generally makes me feel uncomfortable so there were many awkward moments for me reading this work. That is a sign of real art though when the art creates physical feelings.

crashfaster sci fi electronic music

crashfaster is an electronic band out of San Fransisco that are born from the ashes of discarded technology. They just released their second album "Further" and it is available on CD or digitally anywhere you can find music online.

I really like the music. It's very trippy and the album tells a story which is always fun. The story is about an astronaut who is exploring space and in turn has to explore himself and his own humanity to find the truth. The sound is kinda like a mix of old school industrial and modern pop like Owl City or whatever. This is the kind of music I wish I could hear on the soundtrack of Hollywood movies, fresh and new! This video (which the song is not on the new album) is very cool so check it out!
