New Science Fiction Film Nebula

Nebula is a new science fiction film currently in development. The film has real science, a unique futuristic vision, contact with an alien race, and non-CGI special effects by artists from around the world. It will feature models and set design by top professionals in the industry. I know I am going to make a contribution and you can too here: http://igg.me/at/nebula/x/7626 I asked creator Jerry Lentz a few questions:

I like how this movie is going to be about real science. Do you think science could get this country out of the slump it's in?

Thanks! I absolutely do! There are so many great science programs that don't get the funding, and once the few that do, the next administration cuts them off before any results can be seen in the economy. Science is not only great for an economy, it is great for Mankind! We must keep moving forward! We must evolve! We must spread out among the planets. We must protect this Earth from the extinction causing asteroid that will one day come.

I always thought it was cheesy how in most sci fi the aliens basically are humanoid, with a head, arms and legs. Do you think aliens would really be shaped like humans?

I do only in the sense that they would want to create a look that wouldn't frighten us. Those that don't care about us certainly will look more like bacteria or jellyfish. I imagine any alien contact with us will be through their biomechanical avatars and robots, though their robots will probably seem very lifelike, even appear sentient and autonomous.

My biggest pet peeve in sci fi is when a movie is supposed to take place in the future and there is music I heard in high school on the soundtrack! What kind of score are you going to have for Nebula?

Lol, yes! There is hopefully one song from the 1970's that will be the closing credit song, but I seriously doubt we are getting the rights. It was only going to be used as a punchline. I believe some of our crappiest music will be considered classics in the future, lol.

I want an electronic score very much like "Forbidden Planet" and the work of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. However, I want it to be organic, if that makes any sense.

How far into the future is this film set?

Well, it is very far, and it spans millions of years. The main characters sleep for 1000s of years, wake up, do maintenance jobs, then sleep another 1000 years. Humans evolve, and devolve, and these sleep workers stay the same and are in constant danger of being replaced by the latest human form. They have to fight to stay relevant.

Can donating a dollar to a crowd funding campaign really help?

We're looking for $78,000, so if we get 78,000 people backing us with one dollar each, lol... That will help!

I'm very excited by the contributors we now have being true genre fans and even big names in the field of special effects and science fiction. That seal of approval by people that create in the field of science fiction, science, NASA, Space X, and Astronomy feels so unimaginable!!! It makes me feel there is an audience of people like me whose pet peeves are sounds in space, lol

Thanks so much! I am looking forward to this film!!

Thank you so much for having here with your MORMO readers!

Daddy, I'm A Zombie Redbox Review

I rented Daddy, I'm A Zombie from Redbox. It's the story of Dixie a young goth/emo girl who lives with her mortician father. Her parents separated. She hates school because she gets teased and has no friends. Her classmates pull a cruel trick on her which leads to her running through a forest and a tree falls on her. When she wakes up she finds out she is a zombie and befriends a mummy named Isis. To be returned to the living world she needs to go on an adventure involving werewolves, an evil witch, a zombie pirate boy and a hippie I don't know what. Happy ending with Dixie learning gratitude and the power of being positive.

Click here for kids Halloween costumes! Don't shop at Wal-Mart!!

This is a really cute movie. It stays fun and interesting the whole way through. The animation is very good. I had hard time understanding some of the characters but it didn't effect my enjoyment of the film. Daddy, I'm A Zombie is about one hundred times better then Frankenweenie which I found very dull and boring and with a over all bad message to kids. This movie teaches good lessons about friendship and having a good attitude. Def check this movie out!

My Hero: John Waters

John Waters is a film maker, actor, stand up comic, author and much more. He's been on my mind lately. I've been thinking about a film he made where there was a freak show with performers such as the bicycle seat sniffer and the puke eater. When I was in High School I had bootleg copies of most of his films. I became after reading about his films in the Video Guide, a huge paperback book I used to call The Bible. The worst movies in the Video Guide were rated as turkeys and it was these films that interested me the most. I read that Pink Flamingos was about a fat drag queen who ate dog poop and knew I must find and watch this movie!

Pink Flamingos was a record breaking film of it's time. I believe it grossed 100 times it's budget in just it's theatrical run. It played midnight shows for many years. I read that when a theater stopped showing Pink Flamingos at midnight a riot broke out with biker gangs yelling "We want to see the fat fag eat dog shit!!". It's a very funny as are all of Mr. Waters films and books.

For being brave enough to make such ground breaking films John Waters is my hero. I really wonder about his current career though. It's been a long time since he has made a new movie. As much as I want to see a new John Waters movie here is what I would really like to see. John Waters become the Steven Spielberg of exploitation films. Find awesome underground transgressive movies and slap "John Waters Presents" on them. It would be money in the bank and really help struggling no budget film makers out there.

Julie Strain has appeared in over 100 movies, was named Penthouse Pet of the year for 1993, was married to a creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, was the voice and model of the lead character in Heavy Metal 2 and is now selling her underwear on Ebay!!

My first thought is to wonder, "Is she tweaking?'. Is she hard up for money? Is it for a good cause? What ever the reason, if you've ever wanted to own a celebrities panties now is a great time to place your bid! Click here!!

I am a fan of her work work for Troma in the films "Rowdy Girls" and "Tales From Crapper" and of coarse Heavy Metal 2. Luckily her panties are at a price even I could afford and whoever wins the bid will also get something signed like maybe a photo or something.

Mormo Test Footage! Please comment!!

This footage started off as a script for a movie I was going to make. Then I had an idea about a much better story and decided to make that movie instead. I hadn't written the script yet though and I wanted to shoot something so I decided to just shoot some test footage from the script I had already wrote. My plan was to charge to see the test footage then use that money to make the movie I really wanted to make. Well the test footage really sucked so I decided to just ask people to make a comment on it instead of trying to raise money with it. Making movies is hard, I might just write a book instead IDK? Please comment!!!!

Spring Breakers Redbox Review

Picked up Spring Breakers at the redbox. It's by Harmony Korine, director of Gummo and Trash Humpers. I was really looking forward to this film and I got to say it scared me more then any recent horror flick. The first half is a whirlwind nightmare of everything I lost when I left San Diego. Beautiful women, the beach, drinking, weed, cocaine, parties and fun. It's left to the viewer to piece together the narrative, with short segment spliced into the wild party footage often out of order. Some of the story is told in voice over either monologues or phone calls home to the family.

I don't want to say too much about the story. I find Korine's films very challenging and half the fun is putting together the story for yourself. Halfway into the movie James Franco delivers a power house performance as a gangster who leads the girls into more serious crime. Spring Breakers is a collage of beautiful bikini clad young woman partying their asses off and committing serious crimes. If you are not down with that there is something wrong you! Check this out!

My Hero: Ted V. Mikels

Ted V. Mikels is a prolific cult film maker. I first found out about him in the pages of Re/Search's Incredibly Strange Films book. Here I read about all of his films and also his interesting lifestyle. At one point he lived in a castle and had multiple wives! I got to meet Mr. Mikels at a Fangoria convention when I was a kid but didn't have the cash to pick anything up.

When I was a teenager I had a bootleg VHS copy of his wonderful horror film "The Corpse Grinders". The plot involved a cat food company that ground up dead human bodies into their canned cat food. The cat food company had a strained relationship with a local grave digger who would dig up bodies to sell to them while complaining about his lack of beef jerky and arguing with his nagging wife. Business was booming except that once the cats got a taste for human flesh they then started attacking and trying to eat their owners. I smoked many bowls while this movie over and over again.

Another great film he made is the action film The Doll Squad. I was lucky enough meet Tura Satana and get her autograph on a DVD of this film. The Astro Zombies is another classic that was eventually turned into a Misfits song.

By far though my favorite Ted V Mikels film is Apartheid Slave-Women's Justice. Mikels plays a evil slave owner and when their is a slave uprising all the black female slaves hold court against their wicked master and punish him by walking on him wearing high heel shoes. See Mikels has the unique fetish of getting off on women walking on him wearing high heel shoes. So he made a movie to cater to his peculiar fetish and unleashed this film on the public and (hopefully!!) turned a buck in the process. For this he is my hero.

And now my friends this great master of cult cinema needs your help. He's making a new film called Paranormal Extremes: Text Messages From The Dead. He is asking for contributions to get this film made here. If you have any spare money please contribute some dollars. This guy is a living legend and his vision needs to be realized. If you don't have any money please share this blog post with your friends.

Alien Autopsy Review

Watched ALIEN FROM AREA 51: THE ALIEN AUTOPSY FOOTAGE REVEALED documentary on Midnight Pulp on Roku. This documentary was awful! Filled with hyper editing and over flashy computer animations. Then it's a long interview with the guys who made the fake footage. They claim they had legit footage but it got destroyed by being exposed to air. So they "restored" the footage by recreating it and adding small clips of the real footage in with the fake stuff. Total BS!! After watching this crap for an hour they finally show the autopsy footage which is actually pretty striking. Left wondering how I could get in on a scam like this because I bet the original film makers made a ton of money off this! There was extras after the footage that were so poorly made I turned it off. Here's video of the autopsy footage:

Japanese Tattoo Masters Review

Watched this documentary on the Midnight Pulp channel on Roku. Told a lot about the history of Japanese tattoos like at one time the Japanese government tried to ban tattoos. At another time criminals were tattoo'd as punishment for their crimes. You could tell what crime they committed by the shape and placement of the tattoo.

The best thing about this documentary is seeing all the beautiful full body tattoos. Also seeing the top artist in Japan working their craft. There is interviews with the artists about what draws them to tattoos and talks about their history in the business.

Watching this movie makes me want to get more tattoos! If you wanna learn how to get into the tattoo business click here.

Satan Was A Lady '01 Roku Review

6/15/2013

Was pretty stoked to see this movie on the Midnight Pulp channel on Roku. Doris Wishman is a sexplotation film director who I first read about in my VHS Guide when I was a kid and later in the Re/Search book Incredibly Strange Film. Doris is best known for directing the Chesty Morgan films in the 70's. She must have an interesting person because she's pretty good at making sleazy bad girl/booby movies.

In this movie we see big hair lead character Cleo as a stripper, prostitute, black mailer, father and son seducer and murderer. While she is applying her trade we get long and I mean LONG musical numbers from her Roy Orbison wannabe boyfriend. Also through out the film she stares longingly at a mink coat in a store window. There's barely any plot so I don't want to give away anymore. Check this one out when you feel weird late at night!
